A documented timeline showing that Pretty Smart Twins was planned independently over many years through childhood creativity, customer service work, retail education, business planning, conventions, private conversations and active store searching long before opening as a physical store.
I grew up constantly making things by hand: building cardboard chairs I could actually sit on, creating treehouses, crafting, drawing and turning random materials into projects. My dad worked as a roofer, so tools, construction and physically building things always felt normal to me.
Looking back now, opening a store does not feel like a random decision. It feels like the natural continuation of how I have always lived and created.
Before I ever opened my own store, I was already working with customers as a teenager. I worked in food service, restaurants, a kiosk, a bakery and later in retail-related environments while still in school.
These jobs taught me how to communicate with people, deal with stressful situations, work under pressure and understand customer behavior from an early age.
I completed an internship in a clothing/skater store, which gave me one of my first real insights into alternative and independent fashion retail.
That experience stayed with me for years and strongly influenced the type of creative retail space I wanted to build myself later.
While completing my Fachabitur with very good grades, I continued working alongside school. Retail, customer interaction and creative business ideas stayed a constant part of my life.
I later also started studying business administration because opening and understanding a business was something I took seriously long before the store physically existed.
I also worked in a casino environment with direct customer contact, which further strengthened my experience in communication, customer handling and working with people professionally.
Across all jobs, customer interaction and physical work environments were a consistent part of my life.
I completed my Ausbildung zur Einzelhandelskauffrau with very good results. During this time I learned how stores work professionally: presentation, sales strategy, organization, pricing, customer psychology and the reality behind physical retail.
Years before opening Pretty Smart Twins as a physical shop, I had already written a detailed business plan for my own retail concept.
The idea already focused on individuality, creativity, fashion, customization, alternative aesthetics and building a real physical store space.
Through Artist Alleys and conventions, the idea became more concrete: handmade jewelry, stickers, scrunchies, accessories, product displays, customer interaction, branding and learning how to build a recognizable creative business.
These years gave real experience in physical selling, product development, visual presentation and building a loyal customer community.
For years, we privately discussed opening our own creative retail space. We regularly talked late at night about wanting a store, sent each other real estate listings and actively searched for locations in Trier and surrounding areas.

After years of discussing, planning and searching, the idea finally became concrete through real store viewings and active preparations.

The idea turned into real business work: tax office conversations, insurance, electricity contracts, business registration, inventory planning, legal organization and preparing the actual physical store.
